A book about Conrail serving its customers

While many may only think of Conrail as a big time mainline railroad all those freight cars came from somewhere.

Conrail At Work aims to show off examples of Conrail servicing its customers large and small, from huge industrial plants to weedy sidings receiving one or two cars a year.

Photos of these operations are fascinating for both modelers and railfans. For modelers these are of paramount importance while looking for examples for their layouts and for railfans they’re great chances to see a side of Conrail’s operations that are often under the radar.

The book is currently being researched with a release date TBD. Info about pricing and availability when be available when we figure it out.

Help Wanted: These operations were often overlooked by photographers and tracking down photos of them is a significant challenge. If you’ve got photos in your collection that would be a good fit for the book we need your help by sharing them with us. We’re looking for slide or large format photographs of the industries Conrail served, ideally with Conrail equipment or crews at work serving them. If you have some photos that might be helpful, please reach out to Ed Kapuscinski know.
