CONRAIL DAYS 2010 Updated April 20, 2010. The Conrail Historical Society is extremely proud to once again, team up with the world renowned, Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania to bring "Conrail Days" back to the museum's 2010 schedule of events. Through the collaborative effort of both organizations, you can mark your calendars now for the weekend of May 21 - 23, 2010 as we look back and celebrate the railroad that was Conrail more than a decade after its’ demise.

Special exhibits will be on display inside the museum to help tell the Conrail story during its’ 23 year history with static pieces, literature and videos playing, some of which to include;

“Temporary Block Stations / Operators” See how train orders were passed to transportation crews the old fashioned way even through to the end of Conrail. Imagine a train at speed just 3 feet away as you try and hoop up an order to the operating crew!

“Office Car Special” educates on the unique way Conrail used their business train: Marketing, Sales, Inspection, Appreciation. See actual artifacts from the uniquely painted Conrail trainset.

“Climb aboard the Idea Express” highlights the ingenious spirit of Conrail employees in their valiant effort to pull themselves out of the red during those first few years.

“We’re 20!” helps celebrate the 20th birthday in 1996 and includes excerpts from the celebration, as well as unique merchandise that was available to employees.

“High Value Shipments” helps visitors understand the impact Conrail had on intermodal growth in the country through the doublestack clearance project, its’ partnership with Norfolk Southern through the Triple Crown service, and other unique services offered by Conrail.

“Focused on Safety” Conrail’s ever popular safety awards program will once again be highlighted with several different items given to Conrail employees for maintaining a safe work record on display.

“SD80MAC” will tell the story of the largest and most technologically advanced locomotive of its’ time. This exhibit went very well last year and complimented the actual SD80MAC that we had on display and open to the public in the yard outside.

Scheduled for Friday evening is the traditional night photography session utilizing much of the Conrail equipment. Participation in this event is by RSVP only. Application’s are available below, be sure to print and submit yours!
