CRHS 2nd Semi-Annual Summer Rail-B-Q

05/06/2006
On Saturday May 6, 2006 the CRHS hosted its' 2nd, now semi-annual "Rail-B-Q" on Saturday May 6, 2006 in Marysville, PA. We had as many as 45 in attendance altogether that came out for the festivities. Feeding the bunch was no small task- Hamburgers, hotdogs, potato salad, baked beans, chips, cupcakes, brownies and cookies were plentiful, as was the rail action!

At the 1st quarter 2006 CRHS membership meeting we discussed the normal business topics. Attendees were given copies of the entire year finances for 2005 as well as a breakdown of membership statistics. Handouts were also distributed explaining the history of the CRHS, what events the organization has been involved with in the past and other information. We discussed what things the CRHS could get involved with to help promote the organization such as upcoming train shows, and offering models exclusive to the CRHS.

By the end of the day we managed to sign one new member up, sold a handfull of our shirts, a calendar, and again made enough in donations to cover the cost of putting the event together. The highlight of the evening was two-fold; John Durant and Kermit Geary Jr's slide show presentations, and just as exciting, when a westbound train stopped briefly presenting the opportunity for our group photo session!

A summary of the action noted from 6:00am until 11:58pm-

I want to thank Kris & April for a fine day. And thanks for putting up with us. I had a GREAT time as I hope others did. Lots of trains and a great bunch of old and new friends. It was good to see Matt, Jeremy and even Kermit. Hope to do it again real soon. John Durant

Hey guys, I wanna throw out a thank you to everyone that made it, it was awesome just sitting around hearing stories and then having to hobble as fast as I could while yelling, "PLEASE STOP AND WAIT FOR ME! IM HANDICAP!" to catch a train! And especially thank you to Kris and April for their hospitality (and for picking such a great location for a house!). Thanks guys for making this group what it is and what we hope it to be! John, Kermit wow! You guys are spectacular and have such a wealth of knowledge! Cheers to the Summer Rail-B-Q! Jermey Zella

Thanks once again for a great time!! let's see the group shot in front of the gp15, and the model shots! Matt Arentzen

I had a great time and can't wait for the next one! Chris Carangi

I also wanted to thank you and April for a great time. I was lucky to stay the whole time unlike the last time back in August. I have also once again broke my record of trains in a day which now stands at 38. 26 of them I caught with my camera and the other 12 were at night when the slide show was going on. Matthew Sebastionelli

I wanted to thank you and April for a good day. Good meeting you and John and everybody else. I had a real good time. I did not get home till 5AM since I pulled over and slept a little. It was really worth the trip out. The slide shows were great and the Custom Conrail Models were awesome. Food was good to. Charles Schneider

Kris/April, thank you for hosting another "GREAT" event and meeting. The conversations were fantastic, the food was good, and the slides cannot be described, as they brought back many memories. The topper was the posing of the Conrail GP15. Someday you must tell us how you managed that feat as you must have an in with NS. Again thanks to you and all that attended for a really fun day.
