Location
The CRHS will be at the 2010 Second Annual Ft. Wayne, IN area Railroad Celebration being held at the historic ex PRR Baker Street passenger station, 221 West Baker Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana Feb. 27-28 from 10am to 5pm each day. The non-profit Three Rivers Railroad Heritage Council will hold a two-day celebration of railroading in the greater Tri-State Area(IN, OH, MI). Railroad historians, preservationists, operators, and modelers will be present to discuss all aspects of railroading from past through present activities and events. Themes for 2010 will be:
-passenger train service
-The Freedom Train
-The Kingsland wreck 1910
- Pennsylvania Flyer Wreck at Swinney Park 1913
Displays will include:
- Locomotive and rail car equipment (bells, whistles, couplers and more)
- Tools, lanterns, signals, semaphores and signs
- Railroad clocks and watches
- Telegraph and telephone equipment
- Comparisons of different sizes of rail used over the years, and different scales of model railroads
- Information on structure preservation and restoration
- Tower and dispatch boards
- A 1/8 scale, 10 foot long live steam engine, and 8 foot long interurban coach
- Dioramas of the Winter Street coaling tower in Fort Wayne, and the tower and crossing at West Dana, Indiana
- N and HO scale model railroad layouts
- A presentation on past and present railroad structures in the greater Ft. Wayne area,
