The color of Conrail locomotive walkways is a topic of much contention, with good reason. It seems that every delivery of locomotives, and every month in the paint booth, had a different practice. However, we have photo evidence that Conrail's SD50s were delivered from EMD with black walkways.
Some also came with white crossover chains.
