Ex CR C-424 2488 is now B&H 422. The unit is ex EL 2414. Here it is on "home" rails, the ex EL Rochester Division, which later became the CR Mortimer Secondary before being purchased by the LA&L in 1996. The train is crossing Honeoye Creek in West Rush. This unit was rebuilt to a C-424-m in the 1980's and became D&H 455 prior to becoming a LA&L family engine.
The West end of the Southern Tier was at Bison Yard, a joint facility with N&W. It did not take long for this yard to be abandoned, since Frontier Yard was only a little over a mile away. Here is a mix of power at the engine facilities as seen from the old LV main.

A leased CN GP-38 leads an Eastbound into Hornell. Those widecabs were a novelty back then!
CN lease power works an Eastbound by Goodman Street yard. Those wide cabs were a novelty at the time.

A leased CNW SD-40 is the trailing unit on this power that is backing into the yard for a pickup.
Early CR had leased power from several sources, including CNW, CN, BAR, & Precision National.

WALY-14 is at Avon and will switch out Kraft Foods and interchange cars with the LA&L. In April 1996 the LA&L will own this trackage and CR will no longer run down the Mortimer Secondary to Avon.

The salt train is on Chessie tracks as it heads South to P&L Jct. at Caledonia. The train has a matched set of 4 B23-7s.
Most likely this is a local of some sort. It was not common to see an RS-32 running the main at speed.
The Lima local heads North at Corby Road between Honeoye Falls and Lima.
Another one of my favorite CR photo's. The Lima local is just arriving before dark at the little yard at Rochester Jct. The ex LV yard was 3 tracks as I recall. Some cars that are not destined for points on the Lima Branch will be left here while the rest of the train goes to Lima. On the return trip, the dropped cars will be picked up to head back to Rochester.
