GP15-1 1696, one of the West Springfield yard jobs, has gotten "tagged for the duty" of giving TV9 a helping hand up Washington hill. N7A 21724 gets the squeeze put on it at Ballou's in Washington, MA. This was just about a year after Conrail suspended regular helper service on Washington hill. Of course, this did not mean that an occasional train wouldn't need help, which meant that whatever was available in the vicinity, be it yard jobs, local pedlar engines, or even power from another road symbol freight, would get "Shanghied" for the duty.
