Even though Cabooses had fallen from widespread use by the end of Conrail, a number have survived in yard and local service for CSX and NS. Others have also moved into private hands.

Conrail's freight cars now mostly work for their new owners. See them under NS and CSX ownership in this gallery.

This gallery contains Conrail's locomotive fleet split up in the 58:42 ratio between NS and CSX as well as Regionals, Short Lines and Industrial owners.

Here you can see the Conrail MOW equipment that still survives under new ownership as they work on for NS and CSX.
Most of Conrail's OCS fleet went to NS and CSX, and the two railroads now use them as part of their own OCS trains.

NS 8446 leads train 13T across the Portage Bridge. The 8446 started out life as LMS 750 and then as CR 6276 before becoming an NS unit in 1999.
