GE U23C

Three-count 'em-three U23-C's lead BOSE through Hinsdale center on July 18, 1981. A number of these six-axle U-Boats took a break from their mundane duties of shoving strings over the humps at Selkirk and elsewhere for a few months of hauling tonnage over some slightly larger hills.
N5C cabin car 23007 tucked in behind the power is a sure indication this is SENH. Also a good look at that U23-C as the train tops the grade in Hinsdale center, MA. on July 18, 1981.
Going away shot of SPSE's headend for a better look at the rare birds in trail position. U23C's saw several months of duty on the Boston Line in road service. The 7430 is a GP9, but spotting features are inconsistent.
GP40 3243, leading a pair of U23C's and a GP35, brings SEPW through Bancroft, MA. on July 3, 1981.

U23C 6905
A pair of motors who have been ridden hard and put away wet are these two former Penn Central U23Cs, taking a break from yard duties to allow themselves to be forever captured on K64. The 6905 and 6903 have been off the roster and out of existence for many years.

U23-C's 6905 and 6907 working as hump engines at the west end of Enola on Aug. 18, 1985.

TV10B's headend going away for a better look (?) at the trailing units, C30-7 6607 and U23C 6911. Hadn't seen a U23C up here since the early '80's.
