2 CR freights are in the Sayre yard as viewed from the famous Sayre footbridge.
32
Assorted power at the service tracks and a RDG GP-35 leading a freight from the yard.
33
The Sayre footbridge was still a good spot to view colorful lashups during early CR.
34
A Westbound drops down the grade at the West end of Starrucca Viaduct. I wasn't quite able to get to the end of the viaduct in time before the train arrived.
35
It's badly backlit, but this is a green ex RDG GP-35. This was the only RDG GP-35 that I am aware of that had been painted in the newer green paint scheme.
36
A GP-35 and 2 U-25-B's are working hard with an Eastbound coal train.
37
A short eastbound train gets a look over from the op at RU tower in Sterling,Ohio in August 1977. The train is on the former Erie Lackawanna, the tower is ex EL, and that's the Chessie (future CSX) over to the right. All that remains today is the CSX main as the tower and the EL are long gone from here.
38
CR 3649 - 3062 - 2573 pause for a crew change at Hornell.
39
3 GP-35s and a B23-7 are at the service tracks in Rochester. This set of power was probably for the salt train that ran down to Caledonia on Chessie System trackage rights.
40
An Eastbound is led by an ex RDG GP-35 and a PC GP-40.
41
The engine service area at Sayre had a couple sets of blue engines on hand.
42
Conrail westbound freight on the IHB at LaGrange, IL behind GP35 No. 3654 in Reading paint and leased Bangor and Aroostook GP9 No. 79, in April 1979. Doug Davidson photo with permission
43
An Eastbound departs Binghamton. Next stop will be SR Tower to add the Gulf Summit helper to the consist.
44
An Eastbound at Red Rock, PA. This location is between Great Bend & Oakland along Route 171.
45
With the helper cut in behind the road power, an Eastbound climbs the grade across Starrucca Viaduct.
46
A colorful consist of ex Reading GP35 #3656, BAR 82, and ex EL GP35 #3689 snakes through the mills as they bring empty hoppers south on the former PRR/PC PY&A track in Youngstown,Ohio in December 1979. Number 3656 was a wreck replacement the Reading got in 1965.
47
Conrail 3663 has been put out to pasture in East Altoona.
48
CR 3666 & 6726 lead VW-1 west at Ridgefield NJ in 3-77.
49
An Eastbound CR freight has just arrived at Hornell. The inbound crew is getting across the tracks while the headend outbound crew is getting ready to board the 3669. the D&H freight is already recrewed and is waiting for the CR guys to get across the tracks before it leaves town.
50
A pair of ex EL GP-35s are working on a ballast train.
51
WHOOPS! Call this the one that almost got away, or....be sure you've loaded a round BEFORE the target presents itself. Ex E-L GP35 3682 leads westbound SPSE through Middlefield, MA. on Aug. 6, 1982. Gotta remember to cock the shutter!
52
A pair of GP-35s haul a Westbound empty hopper train up the grade out of Hornell.
53
Still looking like just another day on the EL in Akron, the 3 EL GP-35's are actually a Conrail train by this date. Conrail seemed to group together a bunch of former EL GP-35's for TV trains that still ran on the ex EL. The Chessie got into the act at South St. too as seen by a southbound on the former B&O/PC side.
54
An EL painted GP-35 leads an Eastbound at the crew change office in Hornell.
55
A Westbound freight is stopped on the main just East of the Rochester yard awaiting its turn to get time to work the yard.
56
Not very good quality, but worth scanning, since it is a pair of ex EL GP-35s on a Westbound at Goodman Street.
57
3689 leads EL 2584 & PC 5313 with a Westbound freight that is working Goodman St. Yard.
58
ML-1 has a green signal at Goodman Street Yard after working the piggyback facility. The track on the left was the West lead into the piggyback terminal at Rochester.
59
An Eastbound on the grade seapration at Canaseraga.
60
A couple of ex EL GP-35s are on a ballast train. The track work is in progress on the other side of the bridge.
