Hello Conrail fans!
Convention Chairman Sean McDonnell here, looking to remind you all that the Philly convention kicks off in less than 2 months as of the time I am typing this! Plans are for the most part firmed up. We are pleased to announce that Bennett Levin will be our guest speaker and give a presentation on the restoration of former Conrail E units 4020 and 4021. We are working with Norfolk Southern to do our Saturday evening photography session at Abrams Yard near King of Prussia, PA, which is still home to several blue units. We're looking to have a superb weekend in Philly, and we hope to see a lot of you there. As a reminder, the $240 registration fee for members not only includes all the activities and a ticket to ride the excursion, but also all of your meals from Friday night through Sunday afternoon.Â
We do, however, need time to produce things like convention booklets and t-shirts, so we have to annouce that the cut-off date for registrations is Saturday, September 19th. We ask that anyone who has not yet registered and wishes to do so to please make sure their Shoppe orders are placed or their mail-in forms are postmarked on that date. Space at the convention is limited, and the general public's response to the Conrail Express excursion has been very good, so you want to get your registrations in as soon as possible to ensure the best seats on the train.Â
The convention cars have arrived from Accurail, and they look very nice. The cars will be ready for sale at the convention, and those who have pre-ordered cars will be able to pick them up there. Anyone who has ordered them and will not be able to attend the convention will receive them in the mail a few days after the convention wraps up.Â
